Kaya-chan wa Kowakunai – Episode 5 – Field Trip Detours and Kaya’s Lost Grandmother

February 10, 2026 by chikorita157 Leave a Comment
Chie got her hands full.

After Chie met with Kaya’s mother, we know why Kaya does not like babies. However, things get a bit strange while Kaya is on a field trip.

This man is an a-hole.

As expected, the kindergarten teachers take their students on a field trip that involves traveling by train. Of course, there is an irate man who got angry for some children sitting in the train car seat. Well, he is rude since he wants children to stand. Thankfully, he found a seat elsewhere.

Sadly, Chie and Kaya got stuck on the train.

However, I find it funny when it’s time to get off, Kaya didn’t leave the train for some reason. Because of this, Chie had to get her, but it was too late. Also, they were stuck in the train. When one of the teachers, Chie, was figuring out what happened, they lost connection. Also, that mean guy is still there. The funny thing is that a bunch of spirits appeared outside, touching the train windows.

It’s obvious they aren’t alone.
Yes, that infamous train station is there.

When Chie thought she should escape, she heard a voice telling her not to. The mean guy did, and he stopped at an abandoned train station. Yes, the infamous Kisaragi Station, yes, the same urban legend that was also featured on the 5thepisode of Urasekai Picnic. Well, this mean guy isn’t going to make it out alive from that station, and it’s probably a good thing.

Kaya decided to get rid one of these pickup spirits.

Eventually, Chie got off and received a phone call from Osamu. He picked them up and decided to take a detour. Yes, to visit what he thinks is Kaya’s grandmother. Apparently, the driver is actually his quiet wife. Kaya’s grandmother, Mutsu Ebisumori, is a legendary psychic who lives in a nursing home. Funny thing is, Kaya saw those spirits near the old people, who are “Pickup” spirits waiting for the person to pass away.

However, Kaya decides to send one packing, which causes residents at the nursing home to chase after Kaya as they want to send their “Pickup” spirits packing so they can live. Funny how they try to run away. Funny thing is, Ebisumori ends up eliminating them in one blow. Even if you eliminate them, it doesn’t mean they will live longer.

There is a photo of Kaya’s mother in Ebisumori’s room.
Ebisumori for some reason freaks out over Kaya.
Well, Kaya’s smile is really creepy here.
When Kaya woke up, she didn’t remember what happened.

In the end, Ebisumori met Kaya. We see a glimpse of Kaya’s mother, Nana. Kaya started acting weirdly as she saw Ebisumori with a creepy smile, and she basically screamed. Funny thing is that Kaya doesn’t remember what happened after seeing Ebisumori. After Kaya gave a creepy smile, she collapsed. Still, I wonder why this happened. Either way, I guess she shouldn’t remember what happened after all.
