It’s been a while since I covered a Jdrama series, so here is a new one. Believe it or not, Hoshikuzu Telepath surprisingly is getting a JDrama. Of course, this is not unusual since some Kirara titles had live action, such as Gakkou Gurashi, Yuru Camp, and Bocchi the Rock (the stage performance).
Still, it is a surprising choice, but I guess some people want to see a live-action of high school girls making model rockets and Umika and Yuu doing those forehead kisses, I mean forehead telepathy.
Believe it or not, the first episode’s story doesn’t need much explaining since it’s almost the same as the anime. Yes, there are a few differences, such as the removed entrance ceremony scene and a few non-important comedic scenes. Still, there are not too many differences—however, the absence of Raimon will become important later.
Compared to the anime, I admit that Umika’s social anxieties are less exaggerated in the JDrama. At the same time, it’s evident, given how soft-spoken and shy she is. Otherwise, it’s close to being the same. As expected, the forehead kisses, or forehead telepathy, are what you desire. Of course, after Umika and Yuu reveal their dreams, Umika wants to build a rocket to go into space and search for aliens, and when Yuu wishes to make a rocket to return home, Umika mentions Raimon’s name.
Yes, the existence of her empty desk is finally acknowledged, especially when Emihara mentions that seat. With that, Yuu wants to become friends with her until Haruno opens the door to the lighthouse. Next time, the girls build some bottle rockets. From its looks, it might be more like Yuru Camp JDrama, with most content being close to the source material. Either way, we have to wait and see.
