Kaya-chan wa Kowakunai – Episode 01 – The Misunderstood Girl

January 13, 2026 by chikorita157 Leave a Comment
Chie must be having fun dealing with Kaya.

There are strange happenings at a certain kindergarten, and somehow, a young girl gets blamed for it.

Everyone seems to see Kaya as a problem child, as she often blocks older classmates from using things like the playground swing, children’s book, and eventually a bathroom stall. After all, she apparently knows about the strange happenings around school. The first one is the swing, where children are pushed off.

Funny how children defy Kaya’s warning and get themselves into unfortunate situations, only for Kaya to have to save them. Of course, with the boy who got pushed so high and Kaya saving her, he basically blamed her. Chie, one of the teachers, chastises Kaya for blocking the use of the swing and, eventually, those books.

While fighting those ghosts, Kaya may be creepy, but scary, not so much.
Chie seems annoyed that Kaya prevents other children from reading certain books.

That is not without seeing Kaya defeating those creepy monsters that cause the strange phenomena. Seeing Chie get scared by what she saw is not surprising, but she finally believes what Kaya is doing after she got upset at her for taping the books shut. Still, it’s funny how the Principal decides to donate the possessed books instead of throwing them away, which could cause trouble later.

After she understands what Kaya is doing, Chie basically lied to protect her.

After Chie opened the possessed page of a picture book where a ghost tried to take her, Kaya saved her at the last minute. That is when she finally believed her. That is why she is willing to lie when a girl who really needs to use the bathroom decides to use it despite being told not to. Kaya basically took the door off the stall and flushed the ghost down the toilet, while creating a big mess. While Kaya initially got the blame, Chie basically lied.

Overall, it was a pretty funny show. Sure, kids will not know better, especially young ones, especially not knowing about the scary ghosts. It’s evident that Chie at least trusts her and no longer fears the ghosts. However, she doesn’t see the situation with Kaya’s mother. Apparently, she is captured by some ghost. Sadly, despite being the strongest psychic out there, she can’t save her yet. Maybe someday she can save her. That said, while Kaya may be creepy when she fights those ghosts, she’s not that scary otherwise.
