Kawai Mako is an introverted first-year college student who enjoys cooking food. However, she has no friends and is nervous about eating out. I do kind of relate to it since, after high school, I didn’t have many friends. That is until she meets three girls who are trying to form a Food Culture Research Club. It’s funny how Mako knows the red-haired girl, Ogawa Shinon, who attended elementary school. Shinon finds the nickname Oshinko embarrassing, but it’s not too familiar to see a friend from elementary school attend the same college. While Mako initially rejects the offer to join the club, she regrets it after getting home.
As expected, Mako wants to eat that katsu don. However, the first time, she missed the chance. Believe it or not, it’s the same shop that Furutachi Kurea works at since it’s her parents’ business.

While Mako nearly missed the chance to have the dish since she ordered last and they ran out, it was nice for Kurea to give her up. But it’s cute to see her reactions when she eats the meal. That is when Kurea reveals that Shinon can’t stop talking about Mako. I feel that Mako wants to join the club with the hope of cooking and eating various foods. Yep, she wants to return to the good old times from elementary school.

At least the club is up and running thanks to her now, and Shinon seems happy that she can just hang out. I find it funny how she fakes the club’s purpose so she can have a dedicated place with her friends to hang out. Mako is probably disappointed, but perhaps she can make the best of the situation. Overall, a fun first episode.
