Believe It or not, besides the live-action version of Hoshikuzu, there is another live-action adaptation of a yuri manga: Ayaka-chan wa Hiroko-senpai ni Koishiteru. As for the first episode, it’s what you would expect.
Ayaka is an office worker who just came out of university. However, she was serious and had a stone face until that incident when she apologized to Ayaka. However, Hiroko assures her that everything will be okay and that she knows how hard she works. After she hands Ayaka a piece of candy, something inside Ayaka she sees in Hiroko that causes her to develop a crush on her.
With that, Ayaka changed herself to catch Hiroko’s attention. Yep, she completely changed her looks for a cuter appearance. While it catches the attention of other coworkers, it’s apparent that she wore this outfit to see Hiroko’s attention. She admits it after Hiroko saved her from a male coworker questioning her outfit choice.
We see Ayaka trying to catch Hiroko’s attention by giving her a warm eye mask and singing a love song during a karaoke session to catch her attention. Of course, Hiroko saves Ayaka when confronted by three men and recording her. This incident led Ayaka to make it evident that she loves Hiroko.
That said, Hiroko is a lesbian, as she regularly goes to a lesbian bar. Yes, she went there since she turned 18 years old and even had a lot of relationships with other women at the bar. The funny thing is that Hiroko seems bothered over possibly falling for Ayaka, as Hiroko thinks Ayaka is straight when she’s not. She looks pretty oblivious to Ayaka’s attempts.
That said, I wonder if it’s a matter of time until she realizes her feelings as she believes that Ayaka is a Nonke (ノンケ), which is a Japanese term to refer to straight people, usually used by gays and lesbians. Then again, Ayaka might only be interested in Hiroko. Either way, it’s a fun first episode.
