Based on a Yuri manga, Tsukuritai Onna to Tabetai Onna was under my radar as it eventually received a JDrama adaptation. The first episode is interesting, although it is 15 minutes long, a little shorter than the ones seen thus far.
The episode starts with Nomoto Yuki, an officer worker who enjoys making food. She even shares what she made on social media. However, she doesn’t have anyone to share the meal with. That is until one night when Yuki meets Kasuga Totoko, who lives in the same apartment building, holding a bag with buckets of what looks like buckets of KFC. Yuki wondered if Totoko was having a party.
Eventually, this gives Yuki the thought of inviting her over after she realizes she has made too much. She thought about the encounter she had with Totoko. Of course, after ringing her doorbell, she came over to Yuki’s place and had a meal of some kind of curry, and after eating it, she found it delicious.
As expected, this episode pretty much serves as an introduction to the two ladies. What is interesting is the scene where Totoko goes to a restaurant after work. After ordering a meal, Totoko noticed she received less rice than the other customers.
Whether or not it’s intentional, it’s obvious the coworker scolded the cook for doing this. Still, he might have fat-shamed her by intentionally giving a smaller amount. Of course, he doesn’t know her circumstances. While he did apologize for giving too little, his coworker scolded him. He did something wrong. Believe it or not, fat/body shaming is harmful as it can ruin a person’s self-esteem and even cause them to gain more weight.
That said, the interaction with Yuki inviting Totoko was interesting. We will probably see how the rest of their interactions go next time they finally introduce each other. It should be interesting to see how it will go next time.
Of course, I do admit the food looks delicious. Of course, I can say the same for the Yuru Camp JDrama, which I finished both seasons.
